Next-Gen Technology: A Step Closer To Virtual Reality

Over the years, technology has never failed to surprise us with it's offerings, be it a simple mobile phone or a high-end smart phone. From the era of Charles Babbage to Bill Gates, such has been the inspiring journey of technology that 'impossible' for an answer is something unexpected today. Marketing is now internet marketing wherein websites have taken over as the face of commercial businesses in WWW and the Moon, which was earlier considered as a giant leap now seems to be a destination within our reach in the coming time. The rate at which we are propelling in terms of technological advancements, soon there will be a time when humans will be able to feel virtual reality.
'Next generation technology' is a concept which cannot be specifically or even verbally defined by anyone, rather it is also a vision that has inspired many to attain perfection. However, to me next generation technology will be the absence of human labor or hardship. Some define next generation technology as a period which will see domination of next level user interface, that is humans directly interacting with machines. Imagining an era free from mouses, buttons and keyboards, which will see humans commanding machines using gestures, motion sensors or simply voice recognition.
To Specify things a bit there are certain devices that I would like to list, which can possibly be an inherent part of next generation technology:
3D Printers
From movies to wallpapers, everything is now 3D, which is why I feel 3D printing is one of the coolest things that deserves a place in our near future. Creating 3D illusions using glasses is a different concept altogether but taking printout of a 3D design from your computer system is what interests me. This is not a new concept as there are 3D printers in companies used to design prototypes but these costs more than 15, 000 $! I believe that in our distant future, these devices will be available to an average consumer easily.
HTML 5
Introduction of HTML5 to the web is something that I will be waiting for madly. Even though slight hints can be seen today but I have strange feeling that HTML 5 is very soon going to be the next big thing unleashed on the internet. With the advent of HTML 5 the entire web will become an application in itself, with reduced loading time and no need to install additional plugins. With HTML5 switching from one page to other will be at lightening speed and gone will be the days when you had to refresh the web page. Being a web master I just can't wait for HTML 5 to happen :)
Flexible displays
How would you like flexible displays mounted on your walls that are virtually invisible when powered off. Well that's OLED technology for you, which is supposed to be as thing as a plastic wrap thereby making it much flexible. Such OLED screens will see smart phones being rolled into wallets and many more. Prototype of such technology is being released by Sony but I believe that OLED is yet to find its true place and potential.
However, these were some of the most amazing futuristic stuff that are in making however, I also have compiled certain devices that are a part of human innovation and may find a place in reality too. These include:
Nanotechnology
You must come across the term 'Nanobots' several times while watching sci-fi flicks! For those who are scratching their head in confusion let me tell you that microscopic robots have been termed as Nanobots. Future may see essential implementation of nanotechnology in medical sectors, as nanobots inside a human body may assist in evading the need to complex surgical procedures. Microscopic nanobots, one-billionth of a meter in size could help in detecting and even curing ailments like cancer, which will evade the need for complex therapies like Chemotherapy. Japanese electronics firm by the name of Cyberdyne at present is developing hybrid robotic limbs for patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
Smart Eye-wear
Well I may be a bit too futuristic in predicting that camera phone will soon to be out of fashion but, I have a strange feeling that soon you will be able to capture moments simply using your Eye wear. Call it the kid inside me or a demented professional with a scientific vision, but I have a strong intuition that this technology will be a sure hit amongst teens. You will be able to stream these captured images and videos directly to social networking websites to share it with your loved ones. I heard news reports regarding Google developing smart glasses, which is why I feel Smart Eye wear deserves to be in this list.
Here it is my wish list when it comes to future technology. Well, that's not all but if I start mentioning all of them then, it would be trouble for you to read my infinitely mad technical fantasies. :)
