Hi Friends!
After Google adopting NFC technology, its official roll-out of its mobile-payment service, the Internet leader launched Google Wallet yesterday. Interestingly, it is a new initiative by Google to enhance the shopping experience of both clients and businesses. In this regard, Stephanie Tilenius, Google's Commerce VP announced what people have been waiting for long, the Wallet. In a conference in New York yesterday, she explained that the Web giant aims at bringing together online and offline platforms via online payment system.
With this smart move, Google focuses on providing the best offers, payments and loyalty at a single point to ensure a nifty shopping experience. Though the capabilities are very intriguing; however the question is how the people will react to it?
I think it to be an egg-headed step as history is an evidence of the ecommerce development. And the beefed up demand has encouraged people to go for online shopping.
What is a Google Wallet?
Google Wallet supports the usage of varying credit card accounts and it is the Google's prepaid card that will be supported at first. Later, many more cards will be available. Inexorably, the security is the chief concern with Google Wallet. The inaugural retailers entails Walgreens, Noahs Bagels, American Eagle and many more. Also, Wallet has the ability of storing gift cards, loyalty cards, and other special offers.
Formal Announcement of Google Offers
The offers will be made available under the tag 'Deals of the Day' sent through an email. As the offers are integrated with Google Wallet, customers can save huge bucks. All that a customer need to do to redeem the offer is to tap and go to a physical store. Currently, the offer is available in Portland, New York and San Francisco. Apart from the deals of the day, users will be facilitated with offer ads, place offers and check-in offers for the localized merchants.
The enticing thing is that Google envisions to customize the offers based on the users purchase history.
Google Wallet Live Demo
To assure people of the set up and security features of the entire system , Google offered demo to the potential users. The prepaid card from Google is available with the Wallet. Users are provided an opportunity to add money to their prepaid cards via credit cards. Possibly, we may expect the facility of adding more cards to the Wallet and doing transactions with the one of choice.
An Imperfect Combination of Online-Offline
The single-tap technology by Google allows sending varying objects to the area of sale at the same time, that is reward cards, payment cards, and gift cards.
Nevertheless, the thing to ponder is, how many will be given access to the this?Reportedly, the wallet will be available on the phone Nexus S by Sprint. And as announced by Tilenius, nearly 150 million devices will be using this system by the end of this year.
Interestingly, Google Wallet will ease the way shopping is done, will make it more interesting and profitable for retailers.
So what do you think, will it really prove to be an ideal, intelligent ideology or just an experiment that will see ground in real time? Post your comments.
