How To Talk To Clients Effectively?
Hi,
Of all the steps and stages in a web design project, the one that most concerns me is the discussion part, the initial stage where I sit down with my clients and understand what they need.
Everyone needs a website. And you as web developers will have a broad list of clientele. Be it hospitals or educational institutions or be it corporate enterprises, having an online presence has become a necessity in today’s age.
And there are web developers who cater to them. But often it happens that communication between the two parties is not clear enough. And this is where I guess disparities creep in. ‘cause the client expects something and the developer delivers something else!
Let me tell you how to talk to clients, and that too effectively:
Estimate the clients’ technological expertise
First on where the client stands on the technical IQ test. This‘ll tell you how deep you need to go while explaining things to them.
And yeah, I know it’s pretty weird to ask them like “How much do you know about the tech stuff?”
Not to worry!
Go the indirect way. Ask them random questions like “Hey, what id your favorite browser?” or say “What OS do have at your place?”
This’ll tell you about their tech-savviness!
Don’t underestimate their knowledge
Have you ever had someone explaining you what HTML is, just when you had completed to draft a whole document of it? If yes, then you know how much you hate the Jack who did.
Don’t do it with your clients and make them feel stupid. As I said before ask them random questions to figure out how much they know about something.
Use real examples
Theory doesn’t work here. At All. Don’t expect to discuss the look and feel of a website with pen and paper. Rather have a computer and internet handy and show your clients live examples that are on the same lines as they want their design to be.
Trust me, you will get a much clearer picture of what they actually need.
Keep it simple
Again, spare them the technical intricacies of you work process. Don’t load them with your technical jargon in a bid to show off your knowledge and expertise. Most often, they don’t really care about the technical proceedings and you just end up complicating things and adding to their anxieties about a topic they’re not well-versed in.
Use familiar analogies while talking
Using situations relevant to the background of your client is a powerful way to communicate information to them. Be creative and draft out crisp funny analogies to explain complicated concepts so that they get it well in tune.
The next time you begin a project, try doing all this and tell me how it went.
Bye for now!

Landing Pages- How To Get The Best Of It?
Hi,
Landing pages are is where potential customers arrive when they click on some ad or search engine resulted link. It is like a natural extension and is optimized to include specific keywords or phrases that can be indexed by search engines.
Before anything else, let me clarify that landing pages are not homepages. They are rather a page that acts as a gate for sub categories.
Now well know how important it is to have a great looking homepage. Same is the case for landing pages. If visitors do not like the place they land on, how do you expect them to stay?
And to make them stay and linger on you know exactly what to do!
Exude Professionalism
Credibility is earned through professionalism. So by all means make your landing page as professional. Be it any formatting or spacing issues or be it any spelling or grammar errors, iron them all out.
If first impressions are anything to go by in cyberspace, you sure have to do your bit.
Include testimonials
What better than your work talk for you? Upload any client testimonials that you have received for your work. Sure don’t stack them all up but yeah don’t shy away from showcasing those quotes, awards and badges that you got from reputable sources and satisfied customers.
Trust me… references speak a ton and work at par with your ad campaigns!
No Broken Links
This can be quite embarrassing. Like telling you visitors ‘Click Here’ and the link going nowhere. Guess what? It’s a perfect recipe for permanent customer loss.
The functionality of the landing page gives users a hint about how serious you are about your website and your company.
Don’t give them a wrong clue. Check for any broken images or links and do a quick fix-it!
K.I.S.S
Keep It Simple, Stupid! You know how artistic you are when it comes to website designing stuff. But please, spare the landing space. Keep it simple enough for visitors to come and decipher easily. The design of your landing page should be simple as compared to the rest of the website.
Go Low on Branding
Remember, the product is the star here. Your company identity comes only secondary. You can brag about it on the ‘Homepage’ or ‘About Us’ section.
For landing pages, concentrate on the products and services that you have on offer. You sure want to sell them, don’t you?
Then why dilute the limelight?
5 easy steps! Go ahead, make your landing page the right way and be assured that your sites going super alright.
Bye for now…
